Our January meeting went really well, as always! I’m really glad we changed the time to 10:30; it made it a lot easier for some of our members to attend. After ordering brunch, we discussed our last book, “The Mermaid Chair” by Sue Monk Kidd. Only one of us ended up really liking the book, which I think is the first time so many of us strongly disliked a book. We felt the book was just really unbelievable and we really didn’t like the main characters. The only part of the book that was really interesting, the mother’s story, should have had a much bigger part. But hey, the discussion was great and so was the food!
We also decided to try something a little different next time. We’re going to have a book exchange. Bring a book or books you’d like to swap with other members, preferable one you don’t mind giving away but if you want it back that will be fine too. It should be a good way to read some of the books we talk about but just don’t have time to read as a group. Bring anything you want! It should be fun!
Our next book will be “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini. Two of our members have already read the book, but remember, even if you’ve read it already we would LOVE to hear your opinion! The February meeting will be at 10:30am on Sunday the 24th at the Big City Dinner. I hope to see you all there!
