Our blog has gotten terribly behind, so sorry! I’ll try and do a quick recap. In November we read The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, most of us liked it. We debated over who was who and what happened to which sister, an interesting story. We took a break in December and in January we read Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller. While we agreed it was though provoking not all of us liked it. It was interesting to compare what was going on in the authors life in Africa to what was going on in the U.S. February we read The Map that Changed the World by Simon Winchester It was a very small meeting but still fun. We didn’t really care for the book. The parts about William Smith were interesting and we wish there would have been more, especially his wife who had been diagnosed with nymphomania! That should bring everyone up-to-date on our past meetings.
Our March meeting will be at 10:30 on the 29th in the Big City Diner near the Pearlridge Mall. We will be discussing American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld. The April book is still to be decided, we are currently voting on four books:
The Hunger Games by Susan Collins
Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
Tales of the South Pacific by James A. Michener
The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
As soon as I have enough votes I’ll post the winner. I’ve also updated all the books and movies we’ve talked about at past meetings. This is just a fun list of things we recommend, pertain to something we have discussed or are interested in reading. Hope this brings everyone up-to-date, happy reading!
