Our last book club meeting went really well. July's book was Shanghai Girls by Lisa See. Some of us really liked it and others hated it so we had a lively discussion. We all agreed that it was interesting to learn about the lives of Chinese emigrants especially during WWII. Cheryl told us about a new book club the library at Kapolei has started. If I remember right they meet every first Monday of the month at 6:30. You have to sign up for the book club before you go as it meets in the library after hours. When I get more information I'll email it out to everyone. The Kapolei library is having it's Friends of the Library book sale. It is this Saturday from 9-5 on the side lawn. Get there early find your favorite books! The library has also changed it's policy on how to contact you when you request a book. Before I believe your only option was by mail. Now they are offering email alerts. You must sign in to your library account online and make sure you have an email on file in your account profile, after that you must go into the library and ask someone at the front desk to change your book request notifications from mail to email. It's a great way to save on paper plus you get your book alerts sooner than if you used the mail! Here is a link to the library website with the steps and FAQ, http://www.librarieshawaii.org/information/email_notifications.htm Awhile back I gave out some information on a website called Reading Group Choices. The website has drawings for free books. I encourage all of you to put you name in, I already won a book!! That should be all for now. Our next meeting is this Sunday 10:30 at the Big City Diner, we will be discussing The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. Come with ideas for our next book. Hope to see you all there!
